BMW i Vision Dynamics Gives a Peek into BMW’s EV Future
With the introduction of the i Vision Dynamics Concept, BMW continues to show the company's commitment to offering electric powered vehicles. This four door Gran Coupe delivers a driving range of 373 miles and a top speed of 120 mph, and is capable of a 0-60 mph time of about 4.0 seconds.
Unfortunately, BMW has yet to provide much in the way of details about the vehicle's electric motors or battery pack, aside from stating the estimated speed and range numbers. Experts believe that the current primary takeaway from the show car is found in the Concept's styling, as that speaks to the future design approach for BMW's Gran Coupe series.
The i Vision Dynamics Concept presents a clean shape, with updated takes on classic BMW design elements. The vehicle boasts a long wheelbase, short overhangs and a flowing roofline. While the vehicle presents itself with the classic BMW twin kidney grille, there's a modern twist: underlying sensors allow the kidneys to gather data that is vital to the vehicle's semi-autonomous operations.
In a press release, Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "At the BMW Group, the future of electric mobility has already arrived. We have more electrified vehicles on the road than any established competitor and are committed to expanding our activities…by 2025 we will be offering 25 models with an electrified drive system, of which 12 will be pure electric."
